Annus horribilis is the Latin phrase meaning 'a horrible year'.
This phrase was most famously used by HRH Queen Elizabeth 11 when she described the year 1992 as her "annus horribilis."
On the 24th of November, when the Queen gave her annual speech at the Guildhall, in the City of London, she said:
"1992 is not a year I shall look back on with undiluted pleasure. In the words of one of my more sympathetic correspondents, it has turned out to be an annus horribilis."

Latin was originally spoken by groups of people living along the banks of the Tiber River. The Latin language belongs to the Italic group of the Indo-European family of languages and Roman soldiers soon spread the Latin language throughout the Roman Empire then ontoi Spain to Mesopotamia, etc.
